Whether you're stepping into a sailboat for the first time or looking to build on your existing skills, the Melges Watersports Center offers a variety of boats and programs designed to help you learn at your own pace on the beautiful waters of Florida's Space Coast.
Melges 14
For sailors interested in single-handed sailing, the Melges 14 is an excellent place to start. This modern dinghy is stable, responsive, and easy to handle, making it ideal for learning the fundamentals of sailing while still offering exciting performance as your skills develop.
Melges 15
The Melges 15 is one of the fastest-growing sailboat classes in the world and serves as an outstanding platform for beginner and intermediate sailors alike. Designed for two people, the Melges 15 combines exceptional stability with impressive performance. As sailors progress, they can learn advanced techniques including asymmetrical spinnaker handling and planing at speed in stronger winds.
Melges 19
For those looking to sail with friends or family, the Melges 19 provides an exciting team-oriented experience. Sailed with a crew of three, the Melges 19 encourages teamwork and communication while delivering outstanding performance. Equipped with a large asymmetrical spinnaker the boat offers exhilarating speeds while maintaining a stable and forgiving platform for learning.
Private Lessons
Customize your sailing experience with private instruction tailored to your goals and schedule. Whether you're learning the basics, preparing for racing, or looking to improve specific skills, our instructors can build a lesson plan that meets your needs.
Private lessons are available in 2-hour and 3-hour formats and can be scheduled around your availability.
Private Lesson Rates
$150 per hour
2-hour minimum
3-hour maximum
Additional participants: $25 per person, per hour
Summer Availability
Private lessons are currently available weekdays between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

What should I expect when I arrive?
Please arrive dressed and ready to get out on the water.
What is the weather policy?
Sailing is a weather-dependent sport. For the safety of our participants and staff, private lessons may be postponed or canceled due to unsafe weather conditions, including lightning, high winds, or other hazardous conditions. If weather impacts your lesson, our team will communicate any updates or changes as soon as possible.
