Top FAQs for the Winter Series: What You Need to Know

The Melges Team is excited to welcome you to our new facility in Merritt Island, FL! With 17 regattas already on the calendar for 2024-25, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy time on the water this winter!

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we’ve received about the new Winter Series events.

What classes will be racing at the Melges Watersports Center?
The Melges 15, Melges 14, E Scow, C Scow, and MC Scow Classes will start racing this Fall/Winter!

Where can I find the regatta schedule?
The racing schedule can be found at melgeswatersports.com/pages/all-events. When selecting a boat under the “Race” tab, you can filter the regattas by class. 

How do I register?
The registration link is located on each corresponding event. Registration is through Clubspot.

Can you transport my boat to Florida?
Yes, we can! Boats must be brought to Zenda no later than October 1, 2024, to be transported to the Melges Watersports Center. Click here to book your transportation! If you’re located on the East or West Coasts, email eddie@melges.com to book transportation. 

Do you offer storage?
Yes, we do! We offer secure, outdoor storage about 5 minutes away from the Melges Watersports Center. You can book monthly storage or storage for the winter. Long-term storage is not available at the Melges Watersports Center. If you're interested in indoor storage, email eddie@melges.com.

Can you transport my boats from storage to events?
Absolutely. We want to make your regatta experience stress-free, so we offer round-trip transportation from storage to the Center for regattas. Click here to book transportation for the whole series or individual events. If you’re storing your boat on a dolly, transportation is included with your storage fee. 

When can I show up with my boat?
You can arrive as early as two days prior to the start of the event. If you need to arrive earlier, please email rj@melgeswatersports.com to make alternative arrangements.

Will parts be available onsite?
The Melges Watersports Center will have a parts store onsite ready to serve each of the classes. You can always order ahead via melgessailingsupply.com. 

What is the launching like?
All launching will be via boat ramp or dolly launching from the beach. We strongly recommend dolly launching for the Melges 15s and Melges 14s. 

What is the sailing venue like?
The Banana River is an internationally recognized windsurfing venue that features a sandy beach launch, boat ramp, and adjacent parking for cars and boat trailers. Sailing is on the river, a sound with no currents or tides and water temperatures ranging from 70-85.

Can I charter a boat?
There are a limited number of charters available for Melges 15s, Melges 14s, MC Scows, and even an E Scow! Click here to reserve a charter. 

Can I buy a new boat and have it delivered to the Center?
Yes, we want to make your purchase as seamless as possible. Email sales@melges.com to ask about delivery to the Winter Series. 

Can I have new sails delivered to the Winter Series?
Yes! Enjoy FREE delivery of new sails to any event at the Melges Watersports Center. Order from melgessailingsupply.com.
