Melges Performance Sailboats, the global leader in high-performance sailing, is thrilled to announce the launch of Melges Flight School, an innovative youth foiling camp designed to introduce intermediate and advanced sailors to the world of foiling. In partnership with American One Racing, this program establishes a groundbreaking youth foiling pathway for North America.
The first Flight School will be hosted February 15-16, 2025 at the new Melges Watersports Center in Merritt Island, FL. This premier U.S. foiling venue is known for its steady sea breezes and flat waters, ideal conditions for pushing the limits of foiling.
Melges Flight School is open to sailors ages 9-18 and provides a unique opportunity to master the fundamentals of foiling under the guidance of world-class coaches, including Leandro Spina, High-Performance Development Coach and Performance Director at American One Racing.
Central to the Melges Flight School experience is the Melges Nikki, the first foiling dinghy designed specifically for kids and lighter sailors. Built for speed, precision, and ease of handling, the Nikki provides young sailors with an accessible pathway to high-performance sailing. The boat’s stability and unmatched durability make it ideal for learning to foil and progressing to higher-level skills.
Melges Flight School is more than a camp—it’s a pathway that can be implemented at any yacht club or sailing program. By exposing young sailors to foiling, Melges fosters a passion for the sport and creates a pipeline for future champions.
